Decent place... not great but but not bad either. Adequate for what we needed.
My spouse and I spent two nights at this motel with my parents over a weekend in June 2024 while we were relaxing and enjoying the St. Joseph/Benton Harbor area. We stayed here on a Friday night and a Saturday night, and we had two rooms... one for my spouse and me, and one for my parents. Overall, we had a pleasant stay.
I can't speak to the check-in process because my parents arrived and checked in earlier in the day than we did. They were able to get our key for my spouse and me, but due to our schedule and dinner plans, we weren't able to get into our room until later. But when we did, we found that the room was pretty nice (we had Room #3).
Overall, the room met our basic needs. It was quiet, clean, and comfortable. My only complaint was that the bathroom was small, didn't have much counter space, and didn't have any grab bars in the shower. (The tub seemed slippery and might not have been the most safe for people who are maybe older or more vulnerable.)
One thing we liked was that this hotel was attached to a restaurant and bar. After my parents turned in for the night, my spouse and I grabbed a few drinks at the bar which was fun.
I'm not sure that I'd ever want to stay here again, but our experience was pleasant for the most part.

Pleasantly surprised
Pleasantly surprised by this small motel. Super clean, comfortable beds. Even thought the coffee offered in the room was good. Only suggestion I would give is to let guests know when booking that they need to check in at the restaurant ( of the same name) right next door.

Excellent room, check-in not easy
The room was outstanding---clean, quiet, modern (obviously renovated), and roomy (and we had one of the smaller queen size room). The photos of beautiful rooms helped us decide on staying here, since we weren’t sure about staying in an old-style motel at first. Price was reasonable, and the added benefit of the adjacent Mark III bar/grill (fresh, nicely prepared food for dinner) was a perk. Note that breakfast isn’t provided, but we enjoyed a great breakfast at Joe’s Café a short distance away from the inn. We will definitely return.
The only downside is the lack of a reception area. We arrived late afternoon on a Friday night. We entered the bar/grill area and told the staff at the restaurant that we wanted to check into our room. We had to wait around 15 minutes for someone to arrive to give us the key to our room. If we arrived when the restaurant wasn’t open, I don’t know what our options would be. When we checked out, we didn’t know who to see, but simply left our key in the room.

Perfect vacation!
You just don't get service like this ever. As a family of four with a toddler and a teenager, we love to travel. Covid has really ruined our year and our trip to Lake Michigan with a stay at Mark III has truly been the highlight. The beds are like sleeping on a cloud. Clean, safe, quiet, private, modern, spacious, comfortable, but above all else, they have taken care of us. We arrived late and still got a better room than booked on a busy sold out end of summer weekend. The other area lodging options are either 300-550/night for poorly rated run down bug infested nastiness. We spent 139/night and easily feel like we should have spent at least 100/night more.
The owner brought us extra towels, coffee supplies, toiletries, everything we asked for fast and with a smile. His housekeeping staff was out sick and we were still taken care of. He even went so far as to leave us cash because the coffeemaker was not clean when we arrived. Never have I ever experienced this level of customer service in my travels. We will come back and stay exclusively here for all of our Lake Michigan trips in the future.
