Le Pavillon Bleu Hotel Restaurant

This hotel is set in the heart of Royan, just 50 metres from Pigeonnier beach in the Bay of Biscay. Guests are invited to relax on the furnished sun terrace. Rooms are decorated in bright or pastel colours and are equipped with a flat-screen TV. All rooms have work desks and en suite bathrooms, and some open up to private balconies and patios, upon request. Some of our rooms have either a terrace or a balcony. Free parking is available and the hotel is 3.2 km from the Royan Train Station. The Casino Barrière de Royan is 400 metres away and the Palmyre Zoo is reached by car in 15 to 20 minutes.

We will return

It is certainly not a state-of-the-art and sanitised Pension and I understand that some may criticise it. Yes it is old and could use some refreshments, but for our part, despite the imperfections, we loved this Pension and had a great stay there. It is ideally located, it is very quiet, the bedding is very good, the cleaning is done every day and the private shaded terrace is a luxury at this Award. In short, lots of charm and a very nice welcome. Assuming that we can not have everything, we are very happy to have stayed there.

Horrible.

Unhealthy room, moldy smell lack of hygiene. Our Reservation ended the day we arrived at our request it is a shame to see this Pension dzns in a deplorable state. So we took another Inn that really deserves our full attention

To avoid

The only positive point is the location because it is close to the beaches on foot.
The others are negative: the parking lot is not private but simply an alley where you park wherever you can. The wifi doesn't work. The hotel needs to be refreshed because it is old. Musty smell in the toilets and bathrooms which are too small. Questionable household. Furniture from another time. Defective taps. Poor value for money. I found a hotel for €110 per night with swimming pool + air conditioning + breakfast. Certainly a little further than Royan but how comfortable it is when it's 34°!

Infect, disgusting, unfriendly staff. Dirty room, only advantage, beach nearby, very noisy. Tapestry peeled off, nothing up to standard, deserves a proper inspection, first time I've seen rooms like that.

Enjoy your stay at the Blue Flag

We had a good stay at the blue flag. Our room (23) was very clean. Cleaning was done every day. The bedding was of good quality. No smell of mold (as we have read in some reviews)
The bathroom was certainly a bit rustic but clean. The terrace was very nice. The breakfast was good and plentiful. The staff are very pleasant and helpful.
So yes, the hotel is not state-of-the-art, but we don't really understand the point of some reviews! 115 euros per night in August….cheaper than a “mobile home” in a campsite!!! With the beach (150 m), the seafront of Royan (1km), and the calm and rest… all this for not very expensive!
But hey…the hotel is full so surely not as bad as some may say…to be fair…
