Nice hotel in beautiful surroundings

Nice hotel in a typical German style. You can see that it has been around for many years, but I personally didn't mind that. We had a party in the party room, so it was very practical that we could suddenly sleep over.
The surroundings are beautiful and the staff is super friendly. Recommended for a short stay!

We will be back!

This hotel is the best hidden secret outside of the Frankfurt area. My husband used to stay at the hotel many years ago on business trips and he insisted that we had to stay there as we traveled through Germany with friends. Laura (Geschäftsführerin), as well as her entire staff were genuinely welcoming and went out of their way to make us feel home. The accommodations were very comfortable and spacious.
And then there is the restaurant; Breakfast was exceptional, lots of variety!
Why choose any other place for dinner when you can eat the best and freshest fish! Laura, thank you and your staff for a wonderful experience and stay. We will be back!

The hotel is very comfortable, the restaurant is wonderful!!

This hotel is a little off the beaten path, in a quiet wooded area. The hotel is somewhat old but it is very clean and comfortable. While we were there it was cool at night and we slept with the windows open. Our bathroom had a shower, two sinks, toilet and bidet. The bed was typical German style with individual comforters. The room was spacious with a desk and sofa and separate closet area. The best part about the hotel is the restaurant! They raise their own fish in a nearby pond. Many locals eat dinner here. A continental breakfast was included with our room. The staff is friendly and helpful. We were very satisfied with our stay.

Quality family spa hotel located at the brink of a tranquil German forest

My family first found this place by chance in 2004—since then we've returned twelve times, as well as recommended it to other relatives. Any roadtrip through Europe where we manage to fit in a stay at the Brandhof is automatically better for it.
The hotel reception and many of the rooms have recently been renovated and expanded for a more modern feel, nicely complementing the more rustic interior of the restaurant as well as the lightness of the glass winter garden where an excellent breakfast buffet is served. My favourite thing about this place is however the restaurant, specialised in wild meats and fresh local produce. If you go in the summer, look for the asparagus (early summer) or chanterelle (mid to late summer) specials—they're so good I could probably eat only those ever again and still be happy.
If you're ever in the area, I strongly recommend staying at Hotel Restaurant Brandhof.

This hotel restaurant is a hidden gem!

First if all, I have read all the very mixed reviews below. So I understand that some guests have been disappointed by the remote location or the small rooms or bad mobile phone reception (not surprisingly in a narrow valley, basically only e2 gets through). However, having spent my youth in Seeheim-Jugenheim, I mainly came to recognize Hotel Restaurant Brandhof for its superb cuisine, which is competitive with any 5 star hotel I know (and as I live in Bangkok for 14 years now and traveling all over Asia I can assure you I have stayed in a lot of them).
So if you are on a stressful business trip, better stay in any hotel in Darmstadt, Frankfurt or wherever...
However, if you - like me and my lovely Thai wife - come to visit once in a year, there is no better place for us to stay close to my parents: Delicious and special dishes, a great selection of local wines and the very attentive and friendly staff, this is what this Althaus family owned hotel is about. If you are looking for a regular (and boring) business hotel, better look elsewhere. 4 stars ****
