Great small hotel and fantastic adjoining restaurant

We stayed at Hotel Villas Isabela B&B for 2 nights while in Puerto San Carlos for whale watching with Magdalena Bay Whales. The hotel was clean and comfortable, blessedly quiet at night, and with friendly and helpful staff. But the adjoining restaurant really put our stay over the top. The included breakfast was freshly prepared and delicious, and in fact all the meals we ate there were great. The restaurant was also a comfortable place to hang out and enjoy morning coffee by the open cooking fire, or to have a drink and read a book following whale watching. The kitchen staff was outstanding -- a special thank you to Lorena and to the head cook for showing me how to make homemade flour tortillas and letting me take a try! This was literally my favorite experience from our entire trip to Baja. If you are coming to Puerto San Carlos, I highly recommend Hotel Isabela B&B for your stay.

Great hotel for whale trip.

Hotel Isabela is a quaint oasis near the beach. I was not expecting much since the room price was so reasonable, however it was great. The staff was friendly; the hotel arranged our whale trip, provided transportation to our whale boat, and provided a free breakfast to get us underway. They had great kitchen staff that cooked great meals from scratch all day long.

Clean and cozy

For what it cost you can not expect a 5 star experience. I would describe the hotel as rustic. Reminiscent of a 1980 motel in the states. Even though it was rustic and a little dated , it was nice and clean and had a comfortable bed, and nice furnishings. It was a good place to stay as a part of our whale watch package. There isn't much around for a neighborhood, Typical of rural Mexico. We were there to go on a whale watch, not to go sightseeing. One just needs to absorb the culture to which you travel. We were a little lost finding the hotel and found some great local people to help us out, One named Salvatore who spoke broken English was a great help as we speak broken Spanish.
The Restaurant on sight was excellent, It has nice bar selections. Nothing too fancy, but authentic Mexican dishes, and a nice selection of seafood. The breakfast was more traditional as in the U.S. with a nice selection of omelets, French toast, and more. The staff are great, everyone we dealt with was helpful and smiling.

Great place to stay with whale watching.

Lovely base for whale watching and delicious food. They helped us so much, we needed to extend our stay and also had lots of luggage to store while we went to camp.
Such lovely helpful staff that helped when we lost a bag.
Comfy luxurious bed as well.

a little gem

Very nice place. The rooms were spotless, the beds wonderful and the restaurant excellent. The rooms are a bit small and the internet is not great but we were just there for one night so that was no problem.
