A Quiet Getaway by the Fjord

Sunde Fjord Hotel is a charming local hotel, though a bit isolated. It is situated right next to a car ferry, which provides a picturesque setting but also means it’s not close to restaurants or grocery stores. Guests should be prepared for a bit of a journey to find dining options or shops.
One notable feature is the open balcony. While this offers great views, it also means that other guests might walk past your room, which could be a privacy concern for some.
The bed was extremely comfortable, ensuring a good night’s sleep. Breakfast was good but fairly standard, providing a decent start to the day without anything extraordinary.
The hotel also offers shuffleboard and billiards, although we didn’t have time to use these amenities.
If you’re looking for a peaceful retreat and don’t mind the isolation, Sunde Fjord Hotel could be a great choice.

Nice Hotel if it wasn't ....

A very nice hotel, located in Solavagen on a fjord. Very courteous staff. I could have given a few more stars if it wasn't for the fact that the Reservation was gone when we arrived. I must say, however, they resolved promptly by sending us to stay for the 2 nights of the 4 booked at a 4-star hotel located in the center of Alesund, a wonderful location. On our return to Sunde we did not stay in the 4 rooms booked but in two apartments each consisting of several bedrooms and bathrooms.
In the hotel you can eat but only cooked and frozen things.
The breakfast was great and plentiful. It is mainly salty but you have the option of making crepes with excellent jam or chocolate.

A little maintenance doesn't hurt

Very friendly staff. The hotel is basic. The choice for dinner is very limited. We opted for a pizza with 4 people. Those turned out to be frozen pizzas. The price for this was of course lower than normal in Norway, but still.
The hotel is in a beautiful location on the water and it is therefore a shame to see that the maintenance is lagging behind. If you are looking for a good, clean place to sleep and you don't expect luxury, then you are in the right place. If you expect more than that, then look further.

Just OK

Our room was not available when we arrived - but they compensated with beer! We had a comfortable bed and slept really well. Dinner was good - chowder - and the staff really nice. Breakfast was so-so. Close to the ferry so easy to leave and travel on. This is definitely just a one night hotel.

Vaulted ceiling makes room seem larger

Yes, this is an older hotel but the room was very big and had a nice view of the fjord. It was a bit odd that the balcony was shared with all the other hotel rooms, so we really couldn’t have the door open. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Though the buffet deal was good, we opted to get a pizza from the take away at the ferry which was very good!
