Great central hotel in a superb town

Great stop in an ideal spot and lovely town. Great river walks and people so friendly. Really pleased we decided to stay here. Superb amenities whether shopping for food, eating out or buying clothes and things for the home.
Many places to stop along the river for coffee and a bite to eat.
Hotel was superb with greaf staff and restaurant/ bar area. Food was excellent and our room had everything including a view. Car was parked in the Hotel car park safely for the duration, which was comforting

Great Stop Over

A lovely warm welcome set the tone for a wonderful one night stop over. Parking came free with our room and was well marked. After a seven mile walk along the river and round, we enjoyed a well earned pint before turning to our room to wash and change. A lovely room (3) had three large windows with dual aspect. Great view out onto square. Lovely room, with four poster and nice deep bath. Had a brief wander nearby and then returned to Bull for a reserved table for dinner. Lovely dry rose, starters of terrine and black pudding Scotch eggs, followed by a vegetarian wellington with beef gravy (!) and gammon were all lovely. The staff to a person were calm, efficient and friendly. Breakfast was also great with lots of choice and prepared to order. Excellent! Will happily return. Thank you.

Excellent and Dependable

We live local and had good friends visiting, so we booked a table for lunch at the Bull, as we’ve never been disappointed there. 3 of us had the fish and chips and our vegetarian friend chose the spicy bean burger. All of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals and drink.a good plateful of tasty food. All staff were helpful and friendly throughout. So reliable it’ll always remain our go to for that special meal.

Unwarranted poor experience!!

Dreadful!!! Beware.
Website indicates there is parking but it does not state it is free. There is a parking charge, even if resident. It is not transparent.
When I sought clarification staff were aggressive and unhelpful and after the call, cancelled my booking without consultation. Later in the evening, I received a call from them asking why I hadn’t come for dinner!!

Excellent choice

Beautiful master suite, comfy bed, spacious and spotless room. Great breakfast, efficient staff, good menu Really impressed by helpful staff and location was perfect for us. Didn't eat dinner there but very busy every evening, great atmosphere.
