10 out of 10!!

I was on a pre-Christmas road trip with my dogs and decided to book for Christmas Eve on way back to L.A. from Carmel and best decision. From the valets, to reception, to the porters everyone was so welcoming and helpful. We were upgraded through Amex to a single story one bedroom bungalow and it was just lovely. The dogs were welcomed with toys and beds and bandanas and water dishes. We loved having the beach right there and enjoyed multiple walks/runs on our short visit. Lunch at the beach bar was great and the weather was gorgeous., as was the Prix Fixe dinner at AMA that evening. The delivery of milk and cookies for Santa and carrots for the reindeer was such a cute touch, as were the Xmas chocolates and wreaths on all the doors. The decorations across the entire property and the carolers and snowmen making on Christmas Day were just really charming. Not to mention the bed was the most comfortable of any stay I’ve had and I can’t wait to come back to stay again. Thank you for a really special Xmas Eve for both myself and my pups!

Fantastic get-away!

Beautiful 2 day get-away from LA. Room right on the beach, really nice to wake up to. Staff was accommodating and pleasant in every way possible. Did a couples massage which was great! Dinner at Caruso's was a 10. Spending some time in Montecito proper was fun too.

Amazing experience!

This hotel lives up to every expectation. Impeccable service, excellent accommodations, beautiful grounds and beach location, amazing fitness center, and excellence on site restaurants (Caruso’s was outstanding). Only criticism is that things open late, and the catering for meetings was not nearly the same quality of food as the on site restaurants. Truly incredible experience - book it if you can!

Pure Class & Elegance!

This place is pure class and luxury. The clientele match its rich aesthetic. It’s old money but with all of the modern amenities. We have been to all the restaurants except the sushi place and the food and service have been nothing but top tier. Carusos being our favorite to celebrate a momentous occasion. Book a window table at sunset and you won’t be disappointed. We can never leave without having the GF lemon ricotta pancakes from Revere…delicious! Even the ice cream shop at the main pool is lovely!
We are return guests and have made a commitment to come here at least once a year because this place is pure magic! Especially if you come during the holidays the entire resort is lit up with the most beautiful Christmas trees! Lots of secret hidden rooms to relax in with the coziest fireplaces. The shops scattered all over the hotel are a nice touch. I especially love the Bottega store! The spa is very nice too they do special personalized touches which I won’t leave any spoilers here. The gym is fantastic as well as the complimentary classes. They have a free coffee bar every morning in front of the Manor bar. I love grabbing a cup and going for a morning walk along the beach.
We have stayed in 2 types of room- Beach house which is their best most expensive room category as it literally sits above the ocean sand. Our room had its own private entrance down to the beach. Loved waking up and sitting on the patio listening to the ocean. If they offer you an upgrade at check in for an extra $1500 a night for this room take it! It runs for $6k a night usually so it’s well worth the splurge. This past visit we got an upgrade to a Lanai Suite which i surprisingly loved just as much!! It was sooooo spacious. Huge living room with fireplace, two bathrooms, a large dining table and banquet…perfect for families as the sofa pulls out into a bed. You can have it made into a bed every night like we did. Housekeeping came when we were out at dinner and it was so nice coming back to our room with the bed all made. It was like having two rooms- kids had their own tv too while dad happily watched golf alone in the bedroom. The huge patio opened up to a large grassy area- perfect if you have pets! This resort is VERY dog friendly!! We are bringing our fur baby with us next time!
Overall, we absolutely love coming here for some rest and relaxation. It’s an easy drive for us coming from San Diego. We always stop in Santa Monica for a night to break up the time. Upon check out the front desk did ask if we had any issues so I did let them know there was an ant problem, and a few minor issues in the bathroom. Mike, the front desk manager on duty was very apologetic and he took off a few of our meals. We didn’t expect that so it was appreciated. Lastly, the valet team and bellman were amazing. They have a house car (big white suv) that can drop and pick you up complimentary to the shops and restaurants nearby.
Thanks again for another amazing stay! We will be beck again very soon!

What used to be a special gem is now understaffed and quality has gone down

We have stayed at the Miramar a few times now, and while this property has always been amazing, there were a few misses this time. When we first arrived our room wasn't ready because they were "contracted for a 4pm checkout". So we were moved into a temporary room. This was less than ideal because we were traveling with a 1 and 4 year old, and our 1 year old was desperate for a nap. Once our room was ready (at 5pm), it took about an hour to get a bellman to help move our bags and stroller. They agreed to comp us $300 resort credit for the inconvenience. Once there were additional inconveniences, they upped the credit to $600 and they comped our dinner. While I appreciate the gesture, the entire experience was chaotic at best. The other issue we had was around general communication with the staff. We noticed they switched the milk in the minibar from regular milk to oat milk. We prefer regular milk, and so I had to call every day to ask for regular milk instead of oat milk. Not only were they out of milk (apparently), but once it got delivered, there was big confusion about our request. Multiple times, they delivered additional oat milk, which we did not need. One of the staff had mentioned they were understaffed, which explains the slow service and miscommunications. If we had mentioned this during our last stay, they would have not only have remembered this, but it wouldn't have been such a confusing ask. On top of this, there was some general wear and tear on the rooms. There were some nice improvements to the property, but we did notice that some of the quality in the actual room had decreased. It's disappointing to experience this - especially at this price point. I'm excited that the Biltmore is opening again (this is where we were married). I think we'll go back to the Biltmore in the future.
