Terminal Information – Departing
Newcastle Airport has one terminal. The departure lounge features a range of shops including airport favourites World Duty Free, WH Smith and Boots. There are also some high-street fashion chains such as JD Sports and Accessorize. Dining options range from quick and easy (Starbucks, Greggs, Burger King and Upper Crust) to a little more relaxed (The Cabin, The Flying Hippo American Diner). The Beer House pub makes a great destination for a pre-flight drink, and the small outdoor area is ideal for smokers. For a bit of extra luxury, travellers on all airlines can check into the Aspire executive lounge. Benefits include unlimited Wi-Fi and a wide selection of complimentary snacks and drinks. Terminal Information – Arriving
Birmingham Airport has one terminal. The arrivals area boasts a Costa coffee shop, an M&S Simply Food and a WH Smith. This is also where the airport's car hire desks are located. Remember: you get the best deals when you compare car hire with Skyscanner. The airport has excellent public transport connections. The fastest way to reach the city centre is by train: take the free shuttle to Birmingham International Train Station, and from there take a train to New Street Station (£3*). National Express and Megabus coaches run between the airport and the city centre (pre-booking is recommended). Five local routes also stop at the airport, but can be very slow. There's a taxi rank outside the terminal: expect to pay £25* for a trip into the city centre.
Practical Information
Aim to arrive at the airport 90 minutes before your flight is scheduled to depart. You don't need a passport to fly on domestic routes within the UK, but you will need to show some ID at the departure gate for security purposes. Approved ID varies from airline to airline. Those accepted by Eastern Airways include driving licenses, credit cards, bus passes, and company ID cards. You can find a full list on their website.
What to expect in Birmingham
