At London-City: this one-terminal airport has excellent links to the city centre. A taxi to central London will set you back £35.* Buses 473 and 474 both run from the airport into London. The Docklands Light Railway (DLR) serves the airport and offers connection to the city's famous underground service. DLR trains take seven minutes to reach Canning Town and Woolwich Arsenal and 17 minutes to Stratford International. At London-Heathrow: KLM flights usually land at Terminal 4. The terminal has a stop on the Piccadilly Line (underground) which is in Zone 6. Tickets to the city centre cost £6* if you pay in cash. With an Oyster card it costs £5.10* between 6:30am and 9:30am, or £3.10* at any other time. It takes about an hour to reach the city centre by underground. For a faster journey, take the Heathrow Express (£21.50* if you pre-book your ticket). This reaches Paddington Station in under 20 minutes. National Express and easyBus coaches also serve the airport.
Practical Information
You won't need your passport if you're flying to London via Edinburgh, but you will need to bring an approved form of photographic identification for security purposes. These include driving licenses, passports which have expired within the past two years, NUS cards and council issued bus passes. Check the Flybe website for a more comprehensive list of acceptable IDs. If you're flying via Amsterdam you will need a valid passport.
