Swiss and Air France both offer direct flights from Paris Charles de Gaulle to Zurich (ZRH).
Terminal Information – Departing
This is only a guideline. Always check your boarding pass for up-to-date terminal information.
Charles de Gaulle Airport is situated about 21 miles the centre of Paris. Swiss flights leave from terminal 1 while Air France flights to Zurich leave from terminal 2F. As this is the world’s capital of fashion, there are plenty of places to shop till you drop (or at least until your flight to Zurich is called). Bulgari, Hermès, and Gucci all have shops in Terminal 1 while Hugo Boss, Longchamp, and Michael Kors have stores in Terminal 2F. Both terminals have plenty of places to grab a coffee and a croissant. Terminal 1 has a Caffè Ritazza as well as Brioche Dorée while Terminal 2F’s selection includes coffee shops Columbus Café and Illy Café. Free ad-supported Wi-Fi is available in both terminals.
Terminal Information – Arriving
The easiest way to get to and from Zurich’s city centre is by train. Trains run every few minutes, and the journey time is just 12 minutes. The railway station is located in the underground section of the shopping centre opposite Arrivals. Taxis are also available, ideal for those travelling with a lot of luggage. Official taxis are marked with an illuminated 'Airport Taxi' sign. You’ll find taxi ranks outside Arrivals 1 and 2. Car hire at Zurich Airport is another option. Switzerland is a relatively small country geographically, and with a car you can see plenty of it.
Practical Information
Try to arrive at the airport at least two hours before your flight to Zurich is due to depart. As both France and Switzerland are within the Schengen Area, you may not need a passport to travel between the two countries. You may be asked to show some photographic ID so we recommend bringing your passport anyway.
What to expect in Zurich
The currency used in Switzerland is the Swiss Franc. Zurich is generally much more expensive than Paris, especially when it comes to eating out. While a three-course meal for two averages €50* in France’s capital, expect to pay around €90* in Zurich. If you’re flying during the winter months, expect the whether to be colder in Zurich than it is in Paris. In December and January, temperatures average between 0 and 2 °C in Zurich compared to a slightly milder 5 °C in Paris. In summer, the temperatures are similar with Paris averaging 20°C in July and August and Zurich averaging between 18 and 19°C.
